After years of working together and collaborating in their respective companies, partners Alex Galeas, John McKenna and Josh Snyder came together to form DwellBuild. DwellBuild is a full-service design build firm rooted in the core values of accountability, communication, culture, and constant improvement.

With over 50 years of collective experience, our team has the knowledge, connections, and personality to tackle any of our clients challenges!

DwellBuild is based in McLean, Virginia and services the entire Washington, D.C. metropolitan area.

Meet the Team

Alex Galeas

HEAD OF PRODUCTION, CO-FOUNDER
Alex has over 20 years of construction management experience. Throughout his career, Alex has overseen all phases of large-scale construction projects in the residential, commercial, and hospitality sectors. He has worked on projects throughout the United States for companies such as Marriott, Hitt Contracting, Omni Hotels, and Lane Construction. Alex has extensive experience in managing large teams which gives him a unique perspective of both the employee’s roles and responsibilities as well as his clients’ expectations and experiences. He has worked closely with government officials, architects, designers, and engineers. Alex attended the University of Houston where he studied civil engineering.
John McKenna, AIA

HEAD OF DESIGN, CO-FOUNDER
John serves as the Principal Architect for DwellBuild. John spent his undergraduate career at Virginia Tech (go Hokies!) before continuing his education abroad in Europe developing his thesis regarding implied spaces in architectural design. Since earning his license, John has spent his career creating beautiful, intelligent, and ecologically sensitive designs for high-rise residential, retail, restaurant, custom home, and single-family home renovation projects. John is committed to providing clients with innovative design solutions to efficiently and effectively improve the space in a collaborative process with the client and the rest of the team. John's passion for design, comprehensive experience, and growth mindset has resulted in an evergrowing portfolio of impressive work. In his time away from design, John's passion includes photography, traveling, golfing, and enjoying time with family.
Josh Snyder

HEAD OF SALES, CO-FOUNDER
Josh Snyder is a class A contractor with over 15 years of residential real estate construction and development experience in the Washington DC metro area. Throughout his career, Josh has renovated dozens of properties, managing the entire process from demolition to design. His expertise in construction processes and costs enables him to provide clients with insightful analysis and recommendations on home renovations. Josh is committed to helping each of his clients achieve their goals while maximizing the value of their home. Josh graduated from The George Washington University with a bachelor’s degree in finance and continued his education at Georgetown University where he received a master’s degree in real estate development.
